Fuck you, Marxism.  Fuck you, dialectic materialism.  Fuck you, symbolic interaction.  Fuck you, the Yanomamo Indians of southern Venezuela and northern Brazil.  Fuck you, cross-cultural psych.  Fuck you, self for being such an unmotivated bitch...

Honestly, this class is nothing like I expected.  I do have an interest in cross-cultural, but this is definitely more in line with cultural anthropology.  >.>  I should just pay more attention to my lab work, that's the sort of cross-cultural research I care about.  Not Freud and his nutcase theory about the totem of man representing the primal killing of the king by a band of brothers, resulting in the "original sin" of the Oedipal complex.  Note to self: None of this will ever help in grad school.  Just pick easy classes from now on, stupid.

Well, I've had sufficient amount of time to goof off this weekend.  Went to see Eliot Chang on Friday night.  Turns out his Q&A was really supposed to be a workshop entitled "Asians in the Media."  We managed to snag a "yes" to an email interview for Big Straw.  I might write up a small piece to accompany the interview (well, someone will have to, and out of the four BS people that went to the event, I am probably the most inclined to write anything).  I think he'll be a good subject to interview for this issue's Big Starts theme.  Two pictures from the events below.

Saturday, we went to the Chili cookout for Homecoming weekend.  Got there late and didn't get any of the mugs.  Would have been good containers for chicken noodle soup.  We didn't get to try much chili either, so we gave up and went to eat crepes instead.  Afterwards, back to the UC for some pool.  The two guys were seasoned pool players and Angela and I were just lucky to aim straight.  Then battled David in Tetris because he just got his black DS lite.  I got my arse handed to me a few good times, then regained my ego by annihilating Angela twice.  Stacking FTW!  Then I actually squeezed in more studying before dinnertime.  The video collection room in the basement of the library is so depressing...

Went over to [livejournal.com profile] ketsugami's place, and saw last week's episode of Heroes.  It's showing more and more signs of lazy writing.  Got to go to dinner at a really nice place down by Station Square called The Melting Pot.  It was really delicious and really expensive...  Liz!  There was chocolate fondue desert!

Today, finished reading through the archive at P.H.D. comics and am feeling depressed over the future I have chosen to pursue.  Studied some more.  Watched the first episode of Red Garden, where Gonzo continues their trend of very WTF anime.  Then went crazy trying to make notes on 23 possible essay questions for tomorrow's midterm (not an open book/note test btw).  And I'm now writing this long entry to not have to look at that cursed thing anymore.

More and more to come in the album. All taken by David (well, except for that group picture, that's by unnamed UPitt student)

Which parts of Heroes struck you as lazy? I'm less than completely satisfied myself, though my main irriation is the huge variety of storylines means hardly anything actually happens during each episode.
