As promised, a quick pic post of my cats.

We have two cats: Harley (on the left) and Dolly (on the right). They don't usually sleep together/next to each other, but both have a great fondness for clothing- clean and dirty alike.
Dolly is our first cat. We got her when she was about a year old (making her two years old now). She is a sweet though mostly apathetic creature. Dolly is the name she received at the shelter and we decided to keep it because we wanted to go with a name she was already familiar with. Dolly is also partially deaf in her right ear as a result of an operation she had half a year ago to remove a polyp in that ear. The polyp gave raise to constant ear infections that we had to treat with antibiotics. After the polyp got big enough, the vet recommended surgery to remove it.
Dolly is the smart one. When we call her name, she acknowledges the address. Dolly is also capable of performing "sit," "shake," "beg," and "high-five." She doesn't necessarily understand the verbal commands, but she does recognize the hand signals we use along with the commands. She also loves food. The only time she ever speaks is when she deigns it food time and ask why she hasn't been fed yet. If we're not careful with our meals, she will snag pieces of meat and drag it off. She also eats potato chips.
Dolly is also the social one. She likes people. When we used to more regularly get more visitors, she was always very comfortable with hanging with a group. She loves the attention. One time, a roommate spilled a bit of beer on her. She supposedly started licking her fur afterwards.

Harley (named after Harley Quin of Batman fame) is our second cat. We got her when she was about two months old and is currently just over a year old. She's...like a teenager. She's erratic, over-excited, and going through a rather nasty bout of hairballs that she only chooses to leave on the carpet and not on the hardwood floor. She also has this strange habit of suckling her nipples. Like I said...a teenager.
She's not quite as intelligent as Dolly. She doesn't recognize her name and we didn't have as much luck training her in the same way we did Dolly. Harley is slightly more vocal- she is more willing to meow when she wants attention or pettings.
And several more pictures for your enjoyment!

on 2010-09-27 04:32 pm (UTC)My FIL has a sleep apnea machine, and apparently one of the other cats (they live on a farm and have, like 10.. maybe 12) will come up at at 6AM and hit the button to turn the machine off when it's time to eat.
He's since gotten one that isn't that easy to turn off.
