Thinkpads are my other choice, but they tend to be a bit too expensive for my blood. (Especially since I can't get it discounted/free through some scholarship like certain people...) Lol, my current HP one weighs in at about 7 pounds. Chunky brick bastard. VAIOs seem to make great multimedia machines. I'm going for a portable work machine myself, because data entry and statistical analysis is so fun... Oh, and something that doesn't die when running on batteries after about 2.5 hours.
