In some ways, the strike is a bit reminisent of the blackout from two summers ago. The buses were still running then, and none of them are now. While not exactly convienent, it's a break in the monotony of routine. Walking from 42nd to 32nd was kind of fun. I'll have to thank Oppa for that. The only reason I figured out so easily what direction to walk in was because we saw Rent just this summer. The mobs coming out of Penn Station was overwhelming. The only entrance open for entering was the main one right out by the front of Madison Square Garden, even then you have to fight your way through the crowd leaving.

I was geniunely lucky to have been going opposite the flow of traffic. I thought it was strange when my brother told me there was a $4 strike fee for the LIRR. Turns out it's a $4 strike fare. Am I the only one that thinks there's a difference of connotation between fee and fare? Right...

At the same time, novelty wears out just as quickly. My parents are finally forcing my brother to go to school (he goes to school in Manhattan, and we live in Queens). I'll give them props for figuring out a way though. My dad will drive him to Flushing where he can take the $2 mini-buses to Chinatown. From Chinatown, he'll have the joy of walking down to Chamber St. Of course, anyone well settled into the job and career thing has been annoyed since yesterday. Sooner or later, I'm going to start chafing against being stuck at the store.

Props to all my CUNY friends that are getting finals postponed left and right.

Original break plans that may or may not stand with the strike going on:
  • History club reunion on 12/23? (Yeah, the dork that I am I was in the history club)
  • Movie hang-out with [livejournal.com profile] enchantastar and others(?)
  • The Met with [livejournal.com profile] dm_san
  • See Raichu and the rest in Manhattan!
  • Oppa, donde esta tu?
  • Dim sum with Bunnie or Wendy-obaachan or Michelle or some other combination
  • Contact me if you want to hang?

And I finished Phoenix Wright. xDDD

OMG you remember me~! This makes me rather nostalgic and miss you. And yay~! Thanks for saying my Jap improved (I should certainly hope so since I'm taking Jap o_O). I'm jap-crazed now ^o^ oho. So where are you going now? (college) I'm at バルーク
Anyways, it's been long, but I'm happy to see you so energetic. And there we are. ^^

My memory isn't that bad. :P I go to CMU in Pittsburgh, PA. You're going to have to say where you attend again since I, on the other hand, have not improved at all in Japanese. Heh, we should catch up with each other some time.

Hehe, no I didn't mean to imply that your memory was bad, just that I am happy you remember me. I thought your jap was pretty good (better than mine, just look at your layout... what is that kanji??? o_o), but it has been a while since i last talked to you. Do you like it at CMU? i go to Baruch College... cuz i am poor ^^; And yeah, catching up would be cool ^o^

Lol, those are just song lyrics I copied off the internet. CMU's okay, I guess I'm most aversive to the city itself more than anything. Baruch's cool, CMU is mad expensive... Sounds like you're going abroad for the break, right? If you ever want to hang, just let me know (like I have a life, lol).

    spam!

...isn't that what it seems like i'm doing? ^^; Do you mean you dislike cities in general or just that particular city? I was hating cities and Baruch when I started, but I think it's grown on me just a weeeeeeeee bit now... I wanna hang! (i have a tremendous life!... jk) but I don't think it'll be soon since I'm leaving next monday. So maybe in the spring? hehe... I wanna see how much you've changed ^o^ Okay.. I'm gonna study eco now just in case the strike stops by tomorrow. so! i shall keep in touch through lj i suppose~ oyasuminasai~

Pittsburgh as a city is disappointing after living in a place like New York. Good luck with your finals! Have fun in Shanghai! And keep in touch! xD

Hehe, rather funny that you got in just one day or so before the strike ended. :-)

At any rate- I'm free to hang whenever, either with you alone or in a group of old friends. Not much, as you can imagine, has been going on with me so I'm quite available.

You're fortunate that you live relatively close to one of the commuter rail lines. And it's kinda funny that your folks forced your brother to go to school- which, again, is amusing in retrospect since the strike lasted all of three acrimonious days.
