So we finally met to exchange gifts from Secret Santa on Thursday. Annie, who I haven't seen since like early junior year of high school, came all the way from New Jersey. It was great seeing her again and meeting her boyfriend(?), Ray. So I got Lucy a $20 gift card to GameStop. Turns out that's all she's been collecting them all holiday season, lol. Davnnia was my Secret Santa and she got me...a fuzzy pink scarf... Heh, I wore it the entire evening to make her happy. And yeah... She has pictures. Thankfully, she hasn't put those up on myspace...yet... Bonnie got a really nice dye job that day. There was a lot of sweets eaten and general bullying by D to apply make-up to everyone else. I escaped unharmed and victorious.

Friday, I finally met up with the other group. I arrived two hours late to the yum cha meeting in Chinatown. Evan called me just before 11 and woke me up. Turns out he was originally going to offer me a ride into Chinatown and decided not to upon waking me up. Bastard. >.< Less than an hour later, I get a call from Michelle and decided it might be time to get out of bed. Got a chance to see Joana, Fiona, and Nancy before they had to leave. Kevin and Sayma met up with us for karaoke on 45th St. We spent more time trying to figure out how to work the damn remote than actually singing. Kevin did a few Michael Jackson songs. Michelle, Wendy, and I attempt a few Chinese songs. The only problem was it was all in simplified characters, which none of us could read. I got to accompany Kevin on Hollaback Girl. Even Evan sang a bit of Circle of Life. We saw Narnia afterwards (now, I sort of want to read the books...) Throughout the day, there was much fighting over the check (as in who would pay) since Michelle and Kevin's birthdays were both on Thursday. Cindy, Stefanie, Catherine, and Pognee met us in Chinatown and we all had Malaysian for dinner.

I've given up a lot of things this year. I don't know if I'm all the better for it. Most likely, I'm not. Can I seriously say I look back on this year with much fondness? No. Then again, I could never do that for any other year either.

"He knew very well that his memory detested him, that it did nothing but slander him; therefore he tried not to believe it and to be more lenient toward his own life. But that didn't help; he took no pleasure in looking back, and he did it as seldom as possible."
- Ignorance by Milan Kundera

I hesitate to make New Year resolutions. For one, they're not a tradition of mine. Two, I know I rarely keep any promises I make to myself. So here are the potential goals for next year:
  • See a counselor - I have a feeling that this is the first and foremost if I want to achieve any of the hereafter goals. But I probably won't and the rest will just fall to shit anyway.
  • Bring my GPA back up to at least 3.75 and keep it there
  • Really, really try to get an on-campus job
  • Read/re-read all of Milan Kundera's books/essays
  • Build up my Chinese vocabulary aka practice characters
  • Practice to speak better Mandarin
  • Re-teach myself elementary Spanish, no sense in letting those three and a half year go to complete waste...
  • Try and keep in better touch with everyone...
  • Learn to communicate

    So... Happy New Year!!!
