Bitch
It's never easy being a girl and it's certainly not easy being a gamer girl. I'm listening to Mike play Team Fortress II right now. I was crocheting (working on a Cthulhu doll), but something I heard made me stop and think. Now the Team Fortress 2 servers have always been pretty polite in the way of online gaming, compared to the third grade mentality of most of Battle.net and Xbox Live (and perhaps that's giving them too much credit). Mike switched to a new server and came into a conversation going on at that moment.
Guy #1 after getting killed: "What was that for?"
Girl: "Well, I'm on Red and you're on Blu."
The next few minutes continued with this guy and his buddies harassing the girl. Now she took a few pot shots back at him, so she doesn't have the clear moral high ground. Mike tells them off once and they just ignore him.
Guy: "I know why you're a bitch a week out of the month. So why these other weeks?"
Girl: "Don't call me a bitch."
Guy: "Please, you're a gamer and you can't take this shit. Everyone gets called a bitch."
Guy #2: "Yeah."
She eventually just gives up and leaves, having taken enough of the abuse.
Guy: "Look who just left. She sounded hot. Haha."
EXCUSE ME?! I wanted to just pull a Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back, track the guy down in real life, and castrate him with a rusty spoon. Yes, she has a right to be offended that you called her a bitch. What man (or even woman) has ever used that term to convey anything less than loathing and the desire to demean someone's self respect? Not to mention the rest of the sentence it's used in! UGH! There is a history behind that term just like every other pejorative term. It just angers me so much to hear him disregard that so easily.
Yeah, people will be assholes regardless and life goes on. Doesn't stop me from trying to make their heads explode by radiating hate at them.

no subject
One thing I learned about the internet, especially on irc is that males dominate and talk big to show off their 'e-penis'. I've developed a back bone for this, and in return to gain respect to these assholes is to be douchebags like themselves, then they'll stop bothering you. And its gaming and the internet, no one should take things like it seriously.
But if you're up for voodoo, I'll be happily to join you on your revenge :o
